Vocational training at the Saalfelden site

SIG Combibloc has been training apprentices at its Saalfelden (Austria) site since 1983, and currently offers around 20 apprenticeship positions in four different vocations.

In each vocational sector, an apprenticeship officer arranges the training content and looks after the apprentices. The size of our company means we can give our apprentices a varied, professional and all-round training experience.

In addition to traditional training in business and operations, and classes at a vocational training school, we also offer some inter-company training options, enabling our apprentices to further enhance their technical, methodological and interpersonal skills. Our apprenticeship supervisors co-ordinate the practical training with the theoretical learning modules – this means the theoretical knowledge gained is put into practice right away, ensuring the training we offer is of the highest quality. Another key focus of our training is intensive preparation for the final exam.

Getting started together
On their first day of work at SIG Combibloc, apprentices bring their parents in with them: as well as a presentation on the company and a tour of the facility, the parents also get to meet the trainers and have a look at where the apprentices will be working. A group lunch gives the opportunity to socialise and chat. The aim is to give parents the reassurance that their children are in good hands, and will be receiving a professional education with us.

Apprentice outing
Each year, we organise an outing where the apprentices from the Saalfelden site do an exciting activity together, such as building a raft, followed by a barbecue. We usually combine the apprentice outing with a visit to one of our customers.

We support you
To ensure your apprenticeship with us runs smoothly right to the end, we offer you:
  • internal training courses
  • special exam preparation sessions
  • training in methodological competencies and interpersonal skills
  • external further training options
We support vocational training with university entrance!

We like to see our apprentices learn a subject during their apprenticeship that will qualify them for university entrance once they‘ve finished. The remaining subjects can even be completed after the apprenticeship has ended. The vocational training with a university entrance qualification entails no extra costs for apprentices.

Working hours
Apprentices at the Saalfelden site work 38 hours per week.

Cafeteria / meal allowance
We have our own in-house cafeteria.
Apprentices are given an increased meal allowance.

Training costs
We take on the vocational training school costs for our apprentices (e.g. travel costs, tools and supplies), as well as the fee for the final exam.
