Globally, the range of Non-Carbonated Soft Drinks on offer continues to grow. This means providers need a distinctive package design to make themselves stand out from the competition. Convenience issues, and the creation of package sizes to suit a variety of requirements, are also becoming increasingly important. SIG Combibloc Obeikan meets these demands with solutions tailor-made to its customers’ needs.

Arabian Beverage Company is one of the leading beverage manufacturers in Kuwait. The sucess story of the cooperation between ABC and SIG Combibloc Obeikan began in 2001. Today more than 600 people work for ABC and more than 40 products can be found in their product portfolio. ABC has always been a trendsetter, consistently offering highest quality products and services to their consumers not only in Kuwait, but also in neighboring countries.

Creating new paths is the aim of the International Company for Agro-Industrial Projects (Beyti). The company, a subsidiary of the International Group for Investments (IGI), has introduced the combiSwift screw cap on its ‘Beyti’-brand fruit nectars in Egypt. The nectars are sold in two formats – the combiblocSlimline 1,000 ml, and the handy combiblocMini 250 ml single-serve pack with drinking straw for on-the-go consumption. Another sucessful cooperation in the Egyptian market has started in 2008 between Juhayna and SIG Combibloc Obeikan.

Aside from these convenience considerations, the growing health-consciousness of consumers is having a significant impact in the NCSD sector. Increasingly, products claiming to offer extra health benefits through special added ingredients are appearing on the market. The task for packaging designers is to communicate these extra benefits to consumers – a special challenge when it comes to products for children, who tend to turn up their noses at anything healthy.

Since December 2007 the juices and nectars produced by Iranian company Alifard have been on sale in combifitPremium 1,000 ml with combiSwift. The products were previously being filled in carton packs manufactured by a competing firm. The relaunch in the attractive combifit format has since resulted in a 40 per cent increase in sales for the company.
In April 2008, Alifard expanded its successful range with the addition of two new varieties: 100% natural orange juice with pulp, and carrot & orange nectar. The orange juice is also available in combifitPremium 500 ml.
